What is Stretch Therapy?

Stretch Therapy is a comprehensive approach to improving flexibility, mobility, and overall well-being through targeted stretching exercises.  It is a comprehensive system that includes stretching, fascial re-modelling, strengthening, neural re-patterning, and relaxation. It is a form of movement therapy that focuses on increasing the range of motion in joints, reducing muscle tension, and promoting relaxation and also facilitating in removing pain from the body. Stretch Therapy is often used to address issues such as pain, tightness, stiffness, muscle imbalances, and discomfort.

Stretch Therapy can be used for various purposes, including athletic performance enhancement, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and general well-being. It is employed by individuals of all fitness levels and backgrounds, from athletes seeking improved performance to individuals managing chronic pain or stiffness.

One on one sessions are tailored to the individual's needs, taking into account factors like current flexibility, physical condition, and any existing injuries or limitations.

The group sessions are small with a max of 8 participants and are focused on certain joints such as the hips, shoulders, knees and attaching muscles. A consultation prior to joining the group will take  place to ensure a group environment is suitable for your needs.

Features of Stretch Therapy include:

Assisted Stretching

  • Involves a practitioner assisting clients in performing various stretches to target specific muscle groups and joints.

Active and Passive Stretching

  • Combines both active and passive stretching techniques. Active stretching involves the client actively engaging the muscles, while passive stretching involves external assistance.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)

  • Utilizes PNF techniques, which involve a combination of stretching and contracting muscles to improve flexibility.

Myofascial Release

  • Addresses the fascia, a connective tissue surrounding muscles, by incorporating techniques that release tension and improve flexibility.
